The Opportunity

We are offering opportunities to study a Building Services Technical Award L3 Apprenticeship.

We are seeking motivated individuals who are excited to learn, grow their skills, and contribute to a wide range of low‑carbon energy projects. Join us and play a key role in shaping the UK’s Net Zero future.

As part of a rotation development programme, your work placements will range between 8-12 weeks across 3 x Design Principles, Work Winning, Commercial and Site. This will enable you to develop a knowledge and understanding of various building services principles used in electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems along with project management, technical reporting and communication skills.

What you’ll do at work

Working alongside your supervisor/mentor you will:

  • Developing knowledge and understanding of building services design principles in electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems within a building
  • Using project management systems during the construction process in order to ensure projects are delivered on time and to budget
  • Working alongside the commercial team to understand contractual agreements, review the financial performance of a project and support the procurement process
  • Understanding H&S requirements and how to comply with safe working practices
  • Managing day to day activities on site which are relevant to your skills, training and experience
  • Assisting testing and commissioning activities on site
  • Producing technical reports using engineering terminology
  • Developing your communication skills by delivering Health & Safety toolbox talks, liaising and dealing with sub-contractors and producing project reports

Requirements

Essential qualifications

  • GCSE or equivalent English (Grade 4 and above) essential
  • GCSE or equivalent Maths (Grade 4 and above) essential

Desired qualifications

  • GCSE or equivalent Design & Technology (Grade 4 and above) desirable
  • GCSE or equivalent Science (Grade 4 and above) desirable

Other requirements

This role may require periods of working away from home and travel to college. Most journeys involving travel and hotels are subsidised by Vital Energi.

Your training plan

  • You will study a Level 3 Building Services Engineering Technician 2022 qualification
  • The qualification will be delivered by our chosen training partner
  • You will attend college on a day or block release programme as required

After this apprenticeship

  • You will have the opportunity to gain experience in all departments within our business with site-based work placements on projects across the UK whilst learning and working alongside a team of experienced designers, project managers, engineers and commercial managers
  • From Heat Networks, Energy Centres, Water Source Heat Pumps to Heat Interface Units and Metering & Billing Solutions you will help us to shape the future of energy provision
  • Upon successful completion of your Level 3 qualification its onwards and upwards as you progress onto a L6 Degree Apprenticeship qualification in your chosen specialism

Training : An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.
